mastering fireground command - Calm the chaos! operations level 2-day workshop (Optional 3rd day)
Hosted by the Cannon Beach firefighters association
Featuring Mastering Fireground Command: Calm the Chaos
Join us on the beautiful Oregon coast for a fire service training experience organized by Cannon Beach Fire, featuring Chief Anthony Kastros and the Mastering Fireground Command: Calm the Chaos workshop.
This event brings firefighters and officers together for professional development, networking, and camaraderie in one of Oregon’s most scenic coastal communities.
Operations Level 2-Day Workshop with an optional 3rd day of extra simulations touching on larger, more complex incident management.
Based on the best-selling book by Fire Engineering!
The NIOSH top 5 line of duty death causal factors on the fireground surround size up, command, communications, accountability, and SOG’s.
Students will participate in interactive simulations for fires in modern and legacy homes, garden/center hall apartments, commercial, assembly, strip mall, taxpayer, vegetation fires and MCI and Hazmat incidents.
Review several command post incident video and audio to get answers to the following questions…
- How do we ensure in-house ICS/NIMS/NFPA-compliant command and tactical training?
- How do we teach new and incumbent officers to set clear tactical objectives, have clear communications, and establish command presence on our fires?
- How do we ensure quick resource deployment and accurate accountability?
- How do we build upon our training and experience for next-level, larger incidents?
- How do we keep the NIOSH 5 LODD causal factors from coming into alignment?
- How do we create consistency among all shifts and battalions while developing new and aspiring officers?
- How do we really use ICS day-to-day for Type 4 & 5 incidents with more efficient accountability and clearer communications?
- How do we ensure rapid size up and victim profiling is done consistently?
- How do we utilize division and group supervisors to bridge the Tactical Gap?
- How do we ensure lessons from the past permeate down into a simple and effective way?
- How do we apply the latest civilian victim profiling SIGNAL method to maximize rescues?
- What do factors in modern construction and fire behavior mean to tactics and command?
- What are the implications of the latest FSRI studies regarding fire behavior?
- How do we factor in the latest data from FirefighterRescueSurvey.com and FirefighterMaydaySurvey.com?
This intense, interactive workshop hits these issues head on and will simplify the components of tactics & strategy, SOG’s, and ICS.
